MORE INFORMATION
Tillandsia usneoides is known locally as 'Spanish moss' or 'Louisian moss' and belongs to the bromeliad family. In its native range from the USA to Central and South America, it is called 'Cabello de hadas,' which translates as 'fairy hair.' The name comes from a tragic story in which a princess was murdered by her enemies on the day of her wedding. Filled with grief, the groom cut off the princess's hair and hung it in a tree. The wind carried it away, scattering it throughout the country.
Tillandsia grow epiphytically on trees, cacti, or power poles, absorbing water and fertilizer from their surroundings without developing roots. They can form strands up to 8 meters long; their flowers are small, green, and rather inconspicuous.
It's a real eye-catcher and a wonderful decorative element. Whether in the living room, in the shower cubicle, or in a terrarium, there are many places where Tillandsia can look great!
