Our Cocoon Orchid Ceratostylis retisquama is a miniature orchid with bright orange flowers. It originally comes from the Philippines and is also known as Ceratostylis rubra. Its leaves are long and very firm, so it doesn't need much water. Because it grows very compactly, it is ideal for terrariums or for our Cocoon concept. A great orchid that looks really exciting even without flowers thanks to its growth form!

General information

Cocoon Orchids combine a concept of simply admiring extraordinary orchids at home or in the office. In keeping with their epiphytic lifestyle, the orchids grow on a piece of cork and are therefore very easy to care for. The glass protects the plants from drafts or heating air and creates a perfect microclimate. Due to the breathtaking diversity of the Cocoon Orchids, there are different orchids in bloom every month. Thanks to the natural selection, they bloom reliably in their season without you having to do anything special. Have fun discovering the exciting world of orchids!

care instructions

The gravel layer filled with water ensures ideal humidity inside the glass and cools the plant. The orchids grow on a cork board in their natural way of life and show a small section of the orchids' original epiphytic way of life. Watering the plant once a week is sufficient. The Aquastick® connects the Cocoon Orchid and the gravel layer and supplies the plant with the remaining water from the gravel layer, making watering the plants much easier. The amount of water remaining can greatly influence the watering interval. So, after a generous watering, you can go on holiday with a clear conscience without having to worry about your charges. The Cocoon Orchids are slim and much cleaner than a conventional potted plant because they do not need any substrate.
